The other day I wrote a post about generating cash for Christmas with Info Product Killer, Craig Kaye had decided to open the doors again on his popular programme that shows you how to make money with Amazon products. I’ve been a member since 2008 but a friend of mine tipped me off that IPK 2010 had been updated to include ClickBank strategies. I decided that I’d pay the $37 to buy in as a new member to take advantage of this new information.
I haven’t actually looked at the CB stuff yet because I found myself re-watching the SEO videos and the videos about creating Christmas sites and given August is fast approaching I decided I’d focus on Amazon sites for the next few months.
The whole premise of IPK is that you build mini sites that promote Amazon products and you use SEO strategies to propel them to the top of Google so you can take advantage of the free traffic. Of course Bring the Fresh teaches a similar idea. But there are differences. Info Product Killer focuses on On Page SEO or OPSEO as Craig calls it, whereas BTF looks at backlinking strategies.
So I thought I’d put both strategies to the test in a kind of head to head BTF v IPK Smackdown!
If you’ve been reading along then you’ll know that I have two BTF sites in action at the moment. The first Easy Set Pools is being courted by Google and is according to Market Samurai is currently ranking at position 17 for the main keyword. The second Carriers for Small Dogs appears to have been snubbed by Google and is languishing in position 27. Which is strange because I followed the same steps for both. Luckily Yahoo is a fan of dogs and I have a position 5 ranking for the main keyword and some secondary keywords are ranking well too.
Today I spent some time building two new sites using the IPK strategy: The first is in the baby-care niche InStep Jogging Stroller which was actually a domain I bought following the BTF keyword selection process. I suppose you could argue that technically that one is a hybrid so I am going to carry out the BTF link building activities on that one too.
The second site is a new domain selected following the IPK year round strategy. Fran from Eco Friendly Yoga Mats asked me whether I had had any success with .info domains and IPK and I hadn’t tried them out before so I’m putting this one to the test for Fran: Panasonic TC-L32X2. I only have the homepage up on this one so far so I need to look for some secondary keywords to complete the job.
I also snapped up some domains for Christmas so that I can start updating my “mother site” and building some new “baby sites” before the Christmas competition starts hotting up.
I’ll report back with my progress over the coming weeks as we see whether it’s best to follow the BTF strategy, the IPK strategy or a hybrid of both!
p.s. If you’re planning to buy into IPK then I urge you to do so soon; firstly because Christmas will be here sooner than we think and secondly because Craig is talking about making the membership a monthly one in a month or so, but if you get in now you’ll become a lifetime member for a one time only price!
