The other day I was all excited about the new SEOPressor wordpress plugin as I thought it might be the next best plugin since Reviewazon. Of course as with many things in life this isn’t a magic button; you can’t just install SEOPressor on your site and expect to get number one rankings in Google, you have to actually make changes to your posts using the scoring system for guidance. So I decided to put it to the test.
SEOPressor Review
My Disney planning website has one post that brings in the majority of traffic from Google, it ranks for a number of different variations of a keyword but I’m going to call the one that it is “optimised” for Keyword One. When I say optimised it has the keyword in the title, the URL and a couple of time in the post. It is also in the meta description.
I installed SEOPressor and was given a score of 52% for the keyword.
Before I did anything else I went over to Market Samurai and checked out the daily visitors for all of the keyword variations that this post ranks for, and I found that:
- Keyword One has 79 daily searches and 123,000 competing pages – ranking at number 5 according to Cherry Picker
- Keyword Two has 145 daily searches and 15,300 competing pages – ranking at number 11 according to Cherry Picker
At this point I decided that I would actually optimise this post with SEOPressor to try and improve the ranking for Keyword Two.
I opened up the post in the editor and changed the target keyword to Keyword Two and was given a score of 13%. Then I simply used the checklist to optimise the post. It took me a couple of hours because the post was actually quite short so I needed to add in some more content to increase the value not only for Google but also for my readers.
As you can see the final score awarded to the post by SEOPressor was 73.33%. Now this is where I discovered a couple of bugs in the system.
- All of my themes are set up so that the post title is the H1 tag – so this post does have one, it’s just that SEOPressor only scores items in the actual editor box.
- It is telling me that I don’t have an alt tag; there is an image on the post and it does have the alt tag set as the keyword
- I have checked and rechecked all of the external links and they all have the nofollow rel attached to them.
So I think the score should be higher. My keyword density is apparently low too at 1.05% but I think if I add anymore instances of the keyword it will look like I’ve stuffed it. So I decided to leave it as it was for this test.
I amended the post on Wednesday evening and it’s now Sunday so I’ve just checked the results and I have found that:
- Keyword One (which is now scored by SEOPressor at 11.11%) now ranks at position 2 (up three places)
- Keyword Two now ranks at position 7 (up four places)
You might wonder why Keyword One has risen in the SERPS when I have effectively de-optimised it but these two keywords are not distinct, they are long tail keywords that share 4 words and I’m pretty sure Cherry Picker monitors broad match rankings so this is to be expected.
Looking at the strength of the competition based on their title tags and page content I think there is still room to move upwards in the rankings as I think my on-page SEO is now very strong. I’m going to spend some time building links to give it a boost.
SEOPressor Verdict
There you have it; SEOPressor increased my rankings in the SERPS and got me on page one of Google for my targeted keyword. I don’t know about you but I’m off to optimise some more pages. If you want to put this great plugin to the test yourself you can download SEOPressor here.

Hi Clare, I thought this was very helpful, I starting using SEOPressor because my husband purchased it for me and I had no time to even review anything, so I have had mixed feelings about how it works, but that's also because I am learning as I go along, not only the SEOPressor, but also how to work online. I did find a few helpful things about the tool and am liking it more as I go along. Thanks for your write up, it helps and I think I'll be looking for more stuff from you.
