How to Choose the Internet Marketing Business Model that’s Right For You

If you are just thinking of getting involved in Internet Marketing then you need to spend some time thinking about which business model is right for you. You need to make this choice carefully right at the outset because otherwise you will spend lots of time and money jumping from one model to another and not making any money at all.

There are a number of different models you can choose from and each has their own advantages and disadvantages so it’s important that you decide which one is right for you before you get started.

1. Product Creator

Creating your own information products puts you in complete control of your income stream. By writing a product, or hiring a ghostwriter to write on, you can set up a website and sell that product over and over again. You can also set up an affiliate programme and have other people promote the product for you. The only major downside is that you could spend a lot of time and money working on an information product that may not sell well.

2. Affiliate

Unlike being a product creator you don’t need to spend any time or money creating a product to get into affiliate marketing. In fact you leave all the hard work of product creation and sales page testing up to someone else, all you need to do is drive targeted traffic to that sales page in order to earn commission for any product sales.

It is possible to make affiliate commissions from a number of different programmes at the same time, and this is advised because the downside of affiliate marketing comes when the product creator suddenly stops offering the product for sale.

3. Membership site

Another business model you might like to consider is to start your own membership site. Instead of making one off income from sales of your own products or from an affiliate commission you can earn an ongoing stream of income from one website.

You might decide to provide monthly reports on a niche topic, or to establish a private forum or even offer private coaching for a monthly flat fee. The downside is that you need to keep providing fresh content each and every month so that your members keep paying.

4. eBay seller

Did you know that eBay is one of the most frequently visited sites on the internet? This means that by selling your products online using eBay you already have a source of traffic. It is also very easy to set up an online store in this way making it a strong option for a business model. The only real downside is that you are relying on a third party who could change the rules at any time and have a negative impact on your business.

Article Marketing: How Much Traffic Can You Really Expect to Drive?

If you want to have any kind of success as an Internet marketer then you need to understand that the one ingredient that is key to making money online is traffic. It doesn’t matter how great your website looks or how effective your product is, if no one knows that your site exists then you will not make a cent. Article marketing can be a powerful traffic generating technique if used in the right way.

If you are a member of any of the Internet Marketing forums then you’ll probably know that one of the most popular questions asked is ‘How much traffic can I get by submitting my article to an article directory?’

Unfortunately the answer to this question is the same as ‘How long is a piece of string?’ It depends.

The amount of traffic you can generate from your article marketing campaign depends on:
* How many articles you submit;
* How many directories your submit those articles to;
* The quality of your article;
* The quality of the directory;
* The usefulness of your article;
* The effectiveness of your resource box.

If you are looking for a short term traffic boost or a quick way to generate traffic then article marketing is probably not the best solution for you. If however, you wish to invest in the long term and spend time promoting your website, building traffic and building backlinks then article marketing is a great strategy to invest that time and effort in.

The one thing you need to keep in mind with every article that you write is that you want to solve a problem for your reader. Think about the reader not the search engines when you write and make sure that every article adds value.

If you just want to churn out hundreds of articles that are of no use to anyone then you are wasting your time. Just because you write an article and include a link to your website it doesn’t mean someone will click on it.

By focusing on writing quality content you are generating a number of benefits.

* Firstly, your reader is more likely to click on that link and visit your website;
* secondly, quality content is more likely to be picked up and published by other website editors, so your link ends up being seen by more people;
* thirdly, you are establishing yourself as an expert in your niche. And with credibility comes word of mouth referrals and more potential customers.

If you are willing to invest the time into writing quality content that meets the needs of your readers and to do this consistently over time then article marketing is a traffic generating strategy that will pay dividends in the long run.
